XV — The Velvet Promise (The Vow)

Upright, The Vow is forbidden consent — two people bound by a promise their century would not recognise, kept anyway behind heavy curtains. Reversed, the promise becomes a chain and the card asks who holds the other end. Reader's note: this is the deck's most beautiful card and its most dangerous. I turn it over slowly and I never read it for anyone wearing gloves.
