Page of Swords — Mistress Daria (The Name on the Step)

Reader's note

Face-up, the Page of Swords is vigilance: the one who keeps the daytime name, the schedule, the key turned from the hall. Face-down, the name has been set outside the door like a pair of shoes and whoever enters now has no title at all. My reading-table note: this card is quiet, not cold. Daria's deck taught me that locks are a kind of promise, and some are kept by leaving them.
